It is about the economy of securi-ty and defence and cooperation relationships among organizations which were included in our doctoral thesis. One of the key issues in this article is to highlight that defence is an agent of Investigation, Development and Innovation (I+D+I). We emphasize the transfer of technology from defence to civil applications, called Dual Technology. We think sharing knowled-ge among organizations using strategic alliances is very important for the transfer of technology from Defence. Security and defence strategies in the European Union are other aspects we analyse here. Our aim is to highlight the importance of collaboration between Defence and society through eco-nomic approach and knowledge transfer as a result of I+D+I. On the other hand we point out the dynamic role of companies as they take a competitive advantage from the economic value of defence, enabling the civil technology. In essence, innovation associated to National Defence is extremely impor-tant for business performance.
