Lieutenant-colonel. Infanterie. Le lieutenant-colonel Rommel, étant professeur à l’École d’Infanterie de la Wehrmacht, a publié un manuel d’exercice à l’usage de ses élèves qui portait sur les exercices tactiques de la section et de la compagnie. Ultérieurement, il a publié un autre livre sur ses expériences durant la Première Guerre Mondiale ce qui permet de comparer les solutions proposées dans le manuel avec ce qui s’est réellement passé. Le sujet du coup de main est spécialement intéressant du point de vue tactique si l’on compare la théorie avec l’expérience vitale de l’auteur et, finalement, avec notre doctrine. Accessoirement, l’étude sert à réfléchir sur l’importance du retour d’expérience, étant données les difficultés que rencontraient les Armées dans le passé à transmettre l’expérience et la résolution des erreurs. Le concept actuel de retour d’expérience a contribué à systématiser ces observations et à réduire les délais de leur implémentation. DOCUMENT: 75e Anniversaire du corps des ingÉnieurs polytechniciens DE L’ARMÉE DE TERRE............................................................................ 69 Le 27 septembre 1940, une loi crée le Corps Technique de l’armée de Terre chargé des fonctions technico facultatives garantissant l’accomplissement des multiples tâches au sein de l’armée dans le domaine de l’ingénierie. En 1998 il devient le Corps des Ingénieurs Polytechniciens (CIP) de l’armée de Terre. Nous assistons donc à la célébration du 75e anniversaire du CIP. Une célébration qui nous invite à remémorer les origines ainsi que «l’état des services» des différentes spécialités qui composent le Corps. Le Document est constitué de quatre articles; le premier nous rappelle les origines du Corps alors que les trois suivants abordent l’organisation actuelle et une proposition pour l’avenir concernant les spécialités fondamentales des Télécommunications et de l’Électronique, de l’Armement et de la Construction. LESSONS LEARNED DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR: A CASE WORTH STUDYING............................. 32 Miguel Sánchez de Toca Alameda. Infantry Lieutenant Colonel As a teacher at the Wehrmacht’s Infantry School, Lieutenant Colonel Rommel published a book in which he compiled platoon and company combat exercises for his students; later on, he published another book dealing with his experiences during the First World War. Both works afford a comparison between the academic solutions given in the textbook and the actual facts that took place on the field. The textbook entry for the coup de main becomes particularly interesting, from the tactical point of view, when collating the theoretical account, the author’s life experience and our own doctrine. Secondarily, the paper leads the reader to reflect on the importance of «lessons learned». The armies in the past run into some difficulties when it came to passing on their experiences about mistakes and the way to correct them, but the current concept of «lessons learned» contributed to systematize and shorten the process of identifying mistakes or shortcomings and disseminating the proper solutions to them. DOCUMENT: 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARMY’S POLYTECHNIC ENGINEERS CORPS........................... 69 On 27th September 1940 the Army’s Technical Corps is created by law and entrusted with the technical-authoritative functions that ensure the correct execution of the manifold tasks undertaken by the Army in the engineering field. From 1998 on it is officially known as the Army’s Polytechnic Engineers Corps. We are, therefore, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Corps; celebration that invites us to recall the origins and «service record» of the different major branches composing the Corps. The document is made up of four articles. The first one recollects the Corps’ origins, and the other three deal respectively with the current organization and proposal for the future of the major branches Telecommunications and Electronics, Weapons and Construction.
