In the 18th century, Spain waged seven wars against Great Britain, resulting in 35 years of official armed conflict. This contentious struggle gave rise to many illustrious historical figures, each worthy of commemoration. One such man, Bernardo de Gálvez y Madrid, was born in the small village of Macharaviaya near Malaga in 1746 and will be the main character in our story.
