How migration, security and the perception of insecurity interact is today a matter of concern of our societies. This volume pretends to contribute to the current debate on the global governance of migration. It identifies the subject of study, international migration, presenting the definitions normally used by academic literature and by international organizations. It delimits the different migratory geographies in which we are immersed, and see the dynamics that they contain, as well as their different impacts in the countries of origin and of destination. It presents the main theoretical approaches to migration, examining what’s how security fits in them.

Finally, ¡t addresses the international migration government challenges, how they relate to the dividing lines that are being built in our societies, and how migration, refuge and international mobility impact on eminently national democracies and interact with their political dynamics.
