The main purpose of this paper is to recall briefly the most relevant facts of the conflict that I have called the “modern Thai conflict”, as well as to brief about the main actors involved, the emotional and cognitive componentes of their interactions, the structural parts of the conflict itself, and finally the issue of the insurgence in the South of Thailand, in order to better appre-ciate the current conflict resolution strategy, in what is often an unknown conflict to the international community.
