Estos movimientos políticos de características particulares están apareciendo por todos los puntos de la geografía en los cinco continentes. A su vez, el mundo islámico vive uno de sus momentos más críticos con la aparición del autodenominado Estado Islámico (EI), el cual esgrime una versión del islam que ha producido una brecha sin parangón en la comunidad mundial de musulmanes. El objetivo de este artículo es relacionar ambos eventos intentando averiguar hasta qué punto forman parte de un mismo fenómeno mundial vinculado a la globalización y a la crisis del sistema económico. Para ello se acudirá a las herramientas teóricas aportadas por Laclau en su estudio sobre el populismo utilizando el discurso elaborado por el EI como objeto de análisis fundamental. Abstract We are in the period of populisms. These political movements with specific features are emerging everywhere in all five continents. Meanwhile, the Islamic world is going through one of its most critical movements, with the appearance of the Islamic State (IS), which is wielding a version of Islam that has produced a wedge without comparison in the global muslim community. The aim of this article is to relate both events, trying to figure out if both are part of the same global phenomenon, linked to globalisation and to the crisis of the economic system.
