A resolute bet on multi-nationality in the heart of Europe which has gradually taken shape until becoming an effective and treasured tool at the disposal of NATO and the EU. With this article we aim at looking back in the history of the EUROCORPS, making an emphasis on those facts that, due to their transcendence, have marked a watershed. In addition, we aim at presenting what this Unit is and what its developments are nowadays, as well as the future challenges it must face in the years to come. 73 |PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF THE HIGH POLYTECHNIC SCHOOL OF THE ARMY The High Polytechnic School of the Army is maybe one of the less known military education centers of the Spanish Army. It was created in 1940 and, traditionally, has provided training to servicemen of the technical corps of the Army within the different scales and specialties, as well as continuing education and, from 1966, the Ph.D. courses. The evolution of the national development, the promotion of civil engineering and impositions of legislative nature have provoked a dramatic change in the model of engineer the School is to train. This Document, which we present in this issue, shows us a vision of the School’s past, its present and its future, which is knocking at our door with much more technical materials, the implementation of new construction systems, the innovation that makes it possible to apply the new technologies and the new roles that have to be performed and mean, for qualified male and female military engineers, a strengthened and important mission they are to accomplish in our Army. 4 | 25 ANS D'HISTOIRE DU CORPS EUROPÉEN. RÉTROSPECTIVE, DÉFIS ACTUELS ET FUTURS Le 1er octobre 2018, il y aura vingt-cinq ans que le Corps Européen a officiellement commencé ses activités. Un engagement ferme envers la multinationalité au sein de l'Europe, qui s'est progressivement concrétisé pour devenir un outil efficace et précieux à la disposition de l'OTAN et de l'UE. Cet article a l’intention de revenir sur l’histoire du Corps Européen, en soulignant les événements qui, par leur importance, ont marqué un avant et un après. De même, nous voulons faire connaître ce que cette unité est et est en train de développer, ainsi que les défis futurs auxquels elle sera confrontée dans les années à venir. 73 | PASSÉ, PRÉSENT ET FUTUR DE L'ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE SUPÉRIEURE DE L'ARMÉE DE TERE L'École Polytechnique Supérieure de l'Armée de Terre est peut-être l'un des centres d'enseignement militaire les moins connus de notre Armée. Créée en 1940, elle a traditionnellement dispensé une formation aux composantes du corps technique de l'Armée de Terre dans ses différentes branches et spécialités, ainsi que des formations complémentaires, de perfectionnement et, depuis 1966, des stages de doctorat. L'évolution du développement national, la promotion du génie civil et les impositions de nature législative ont radicalement et dramatiquement changé le modèle d'ingénieur que l'école devrait former. Le document présenté dans ce numéro, nous montre une vision du passé, du présent et de l'avenir de l'école, qui frappe déjà à nos portes, avec les matériaux de haute technologie, la mise en oeuvre de nouveaux systèmes de construction, l'innovation qui permet l'application de nouvelles technologies et les nouveaux rôles qui doivent être représentés et qui signifient, pour les hommes et les femmes ingénieurs techniques militaires, une mission renforcée et importante qui doit être accomplie dans notre Armée. 126 / Revista Ejército nº 930 • octubre 2018
