116 Revista del Instituto Español de Estudios Estratégicos (IEEE) Núm. 6 / 2015 Abstract Considering Hamas as an insurgent movement looking for the destruction of Israel and the building of an Islamic State in the historic Palestinian territory, the Movement is founded over it is based on its own doctrine, “muqawama” or resistance. This “muqawama doctrine” involves its own independent elements regarding the classical insurgent framework; hence, these new elements can add a valuable analytic tool in the study of emergent insurgent and Islamist phenomena.
