TIERRA Nº 14 | JULIO 2016 ESPECIAL BRJP We are at the Zagan 28 exercise area, more than 2,500 km from Spain. The Army has shown its availability and commitment to our NATO allies, and demonstrated its excellent level of preparedness and operability by reaching FOC in record time. After the end of ‘Brilliant Jump’ on 27 May it took part in exercise ‘Anakonda’, led by the Polish Armed Forces and involving 31,000 soldiers from the Alliance – mostly American, Spanish and British. Exercise ‘Valiant Falcon’ was held simultaneously, integrating the procedures of two command posts: the Land Component Command and the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force Brigade. As a result, the Spanish deployment continued until 10 June. It has been an invaluable experience, particularly regarding adaptation: The troops had to get used to “unknown terrain” in a very short period of time, mainly “forests, but also sandy areas, as in beaches,” explained S3 from the ‘San Quintín’ Battalion, Maj.
