16 ANA ARRANZ GUZMÁN ABSTRACT Military Ordinances in Modern Spain sink their roots in the Peninsular Middle Ages. Specifically, those territories which, over time, formed the Crown of Castile, had to be organized and ordered on a military basis, facing initially their need to resist the Muslim invasion, and then to reconquest and repopulate the lost land. This article goes through the main sources, both in the local and general spheres, which dealt with the legal regulation concerning war and Castilian military organization. KEY WORDS: Castile, war, frontier, Law. * * * * * Revista de Historia Militar, I extraordinario de 2017, pp. 16-58. ISSN: 0482-5748
