ABSTRACT
This paper addresses the role played as commissioner of the Crusade
by Fray Hernando de Talavera, then also Bishop of Ávila, in the loans
that the Marquis of Cádiz, Rodrigo Ponce de León, granted to the Catholic
Monarchs in the years 1487 and 1491 , during Granada War. Along with
his work as mediator between the parties, the role played by other officers,
secretaries and treasurers is also analyzed, mainly, whose work was essential
in the proper development of those financial operations essential for the
success of the war against Granada.
