Thus, most of the employment registered could be qualified as “low-quality employment” in activities with only very marginal added value. The high levels of conflict in the region have caused the displacement of thousands of citizens to safer regions. This is best illustrated by the situation in Sudan due to the conflicts in the Darfur region and South Sudan, but also in Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria, because of Boko Haram’s involvement in terrorist activities.
