The influence of demographic evolution on the future of many policies, including those of Defence, is a fact accepted by all analysts. This paper aims to show, from a statistical and analytical point of view, the Spanish situation in this respect, from the events that took place since 1900, to the analysis of our environment (Africa and the UE).
It is necessary to analyse the demographic evolution of Spain from 1976 to the present, examining in detail the migratory movements and their difficult quantification, with special mention to the so-called "refugee problem". Finally, through the development of a demographic prospective, it seeks to analyse the implications that would occur with the different projections.
