ABSTRACT
The present work pretends to deepen in the figure of the general
Leopoldo O´Donnell in the lace that supposes his ascription to a group of
generals of high graduation that, used by the political parties, had to assume
the presidency of the government in, practically, iodine the period that
represents the reign of the queen Elizabeth II. For this is indispensable to
begin studying this called “Diet of the generals”. And, even before look for
his origins in the intervencionismo political to the that the first borbones
carried to the Spanish army. After studying the process by means of which
O´Donnell arrived to the highest places of the militia, will see him in the
first conspiracies, always at the side of the Throne, his participation in the
revolution of 1854, key for his access to the category of espadón and the last
chapter devoted to his political project personnel: a political party centrista
pure called the Liberal Union.
KEY WORDS: Army, intervencionismo, espadones, carlismo, isabelinos,
cristinos, pronunciamiento, centrismo and unionismo.
