Sus poemas serían publicados a título póstumo en 1918 (The Last Poems of Alexander Robertson),14 destacando entre ellos esta hermosa despedida: LINES BEFORE GOING (by Alexander Robertson) Soon is the night of our faring to regions unknown, There not to flinch at the challenge suddenly thrown By the great process of Being -daily to see The utmost that life has of horror, and yet to be Calm and the masters of fear. Aware that the soul Lives as a part and alone for the weal of the whole, So shall the mind be free from the pain of regret, Vain and enfeebling, firm in each venture, and yet Brave not as those who despair, but keen to maintain, Though not assured, hope in beneficent pain. Hope that the truth of the world is not what appears, Hope in the triumph of man for the price of his tears. UNAS LÍNEAS ANTES DE PARTIR (versión F. Calvo) Pronto llega la noche de nuestro pasaje a desconocidas regiones, no hay que temer al desafío súbitamente lanzado por ese grave proceso del Ser – cada nuevo día verá el máximo sacrificio que la vida tiene de horror, pero aun así la calma reina y es dominado el temor. Consciente de que el alma vive como una parte y solo por el bien del conjunto, ha de permanecer el pensamiento libre del dolor del remordimiento, vano y débil, firme sin embargo en cada reto y todavía con el coraje no de aquellos que desesperan, sino con el de los que firmemente perseveran. Aun con incertidumbre, mantén la esperanza de un dolor benéfico.
