This volume of the Polish Military Presence in the Spanish Army is a contribution of a barely explored topic about a nation somewhat removed from our current historiographic projects. Our main goal pursues to present foreign nations in the Spanish military, and certainly the Poles have something to say.
Following a chronological criterion, the authors offer here the results of their research work, as result of a project of the Spanish Commission of Military History. This book shows the importance of the Polish contribution to our army, and to our history of Spain. Not only names and important dates will be found in these pages, these military men and those key moments are also framed in their social and historical context to give everything a greater sense.
The research group is formed by Enrique García Hernán (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) as coordinator and author of the introductory overview, by Paweł Szadkowski (University of Wrocław) for the 16th and 17th centuries, by Óscar Recio Morales (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) for the 18th century, by Cristina González Caizán (University of Warsaw) for the 19th century and by Jan Stanisław Ciechanowski (University of Warsaw) for the 20th century.
