Abstract
Society demands a both constant ethical commitment and responsible
management of both public and private organizations from institutional
leaders. Such a demand is reflected in the Spanish current legislative review
as well as in the increasing application of the current Spanish strategy of
Social Responsibility by the Public Administration.
Ethical leadership and Social Responsibility can be the levers that may
encourage commitment and innovation, and improve the quality of
management of Security and Defense institutions in Spain.
Exercising ethical leadership is based on justice, respect for people,
transparency, participation, and sustainability. Developing a responsibility
culture must be consistent with the Spanish strategy of social responsibility
currently in force in order to foster the improvement of institutions at all
levels, increase efficiency, and provide better service to society.
