10 | EUROPE... FOR WHOM DOES
THE BELL TOLL?
Over the course of the 20th century, Europe went from being the center
of the world to losing its former relevance, the result of the European civil
wars and the world wars that bled it to death.
Upon those ashes, the dream of a united Europe was built on a foundation
of solidarity, cohesion and faith in the shared project, trying to move
from an economic union to a real fusion, with a common security policy.
At a very complex moment for the European project, the pandemic may
lead us to imagine a new struggle between European nations, as well as
actions and omissions that go against the Union’s very essence... and
that might endanger it.

he conducted missions of exploration, colonization and pacification. In
this context, he opened a land route that linked Sonora with Alta California,
contributing to this territory’s colonization with the founding of
the San Francisco mission. In addition, as governor of New Mexico, he
rid the province of the Comanche threat for several decades, defeating
their mythical chief, “Cuerno Verde,” and signing a treaty called “ANZA’S
PEACE” with the Comanche nation.

used to achieve the triumph of Christendom.
10 | L’EUROPE…
