News, trends and evidence in artillery.
Knowledge management, path to excellence.
Experience and preparation have always been considered of great
value in any field, especially in the military. The great dynamic
component of today's world results in a faster and better quality
adaptation and in a faster understanding of the problems and
situations we are facing, both on a day-to-day basis and in combat,
and which are also of more varied nature as ever. This requires
an experience management which enables the organization to
become a learning organization. Knowledge management means
stopping working more to start working better.
Are Dual Platforms the Future of V-SHORAD Artillery?
Current conflicts are showing the need for implementing new weapon
systems that allow very low-altitude antiaircraft defense against
conventional and drone-type threats. Countries such as Russia or
the United States are already developing this type of systems, while
other ones, such as Spain, should think about implementing them.
Our country, which is finalizing the process of acquiring its new
8x8 Dragon vehicle, should take the opportunity to develop a VSHORAD
version for its units in order to be able to meet all current
and future anti-aircraft defense needs at a very low altitude.
High energy and power laser systems. Are they the future
weapons against air targets?
Until a few years ago, the use of the laser weapons in current conflicts
was unthinkable; However, their versatility to face various
threats and their cost-effectiveness ratio, together with the technological
advance produced in their development, mainly improving
the power of the light beam and the supply of energy through
smaller generators, have led to major world powers increase their
investments in laser weapons.
ASCA: Future and present of Field Artillery in the allied
framework.
Spain is in the process of integration into the ASCA international
forum, a "club" formed by nine NATO nations, which is a system
that allows the command and control systems of the member
nations to interact with each other in such a way as to maintain
their individual C2 systems, linking them through a common interface
to work together in multinational organizations. In 2021,
Spain will be fully capable of joining this forum.
Organization
Field Artillery and Air Defense Regiment number 32 (RAMIX
32) in the Land Operational Command (MOT)
Land Operational Command (MOT), recently created and previously
known as Land Presence and Surveillance Command (MPVT), is
the unit belonging to the Army that is mainly in charge of the surveillance
and protection of national borders on a permanent basis.
Currently the MOT headquarters are located in the Canary archipelago
(Canary Islands Command of the Spanish Army). However,
there are many units that carry out missions under the umbrella
of the MOT, as it is in the specific case of the General Command
of Melilla (COMGEMEL).
