is done with his

starts. Every four

mikes used to

a student presents
to the speaker an

followed with a round of
applause. The first part of
the morning is due, the lecture
period is over.
It is 10:00 and the academic activity
continues at the seminar. There are 16 seminars, mine
is seminar 13 with sixteen different people; thirteen
Americans and three internationals (from Peru, Mexico,
and lastly myself from Spain). Most of the Americans are
from the Air Force but there are three Army guys, one
from the Navy and one civilian. Yes the AWC is joint!
The rest of the seminars have a similar representation.
Today we have Strategy and Colonel Weber is going
to lead the class. The instruction period talks about
ending wars and we have read around 90 pages on the
topic, either from Ilke’s book “Every War Must End” either
from other articles or
publications.
That’s the overarching
way the course is built
up. We read around
90 pages readings
per day on a topic, the
day after we receive a
lecture from a highly
qualified speaker and
then we discuss the
topic in the seminar
between ourselves
and an instructor, who
moderates and leads
the session.

diferentes publicaciones
y artículos.
Esta es la estructura
general del curso. Leemos
en torno a 90 páginas por
día sobre un asunto, al
día siguiente recibimos
una conferencia de un
ponente ilustre y luego
discutimos sobre el
asunto en el seminario
con un instructor que
dirige y modera la
conversación.
